An irresistible invitation to get in the way

Spectacular needles rock that defy the look, rocky spiers that dominate dense coniferous forests that have fueled thousand legends , amazing rock barriers that emerge from the pastures as castles in defense of the way. And sweet green valleys and plateaus flowered farms , with forests , waterfalls, valleys, but also steep slopes covered with dense forests, interrupted by vertiginous gorges where the water is often found vent in waterfalls and just beyond the tree line the slopes soften in serene pastures before getting back rugged rock .

The Dolomites are considered among the most beautiful mountain landscapes in the world and continue to enchant travelers, backpackers, mountain climbers for the beauty of places:

  • picturesque valleys
  • steps that connect them
  • impenetrable forests
  • alpine meadows dotted with flowers
  • rock formations that the atmospheric elements have carved sparing no imagination and on which the sun invents colors not found anywhere else.

But not just landscape : the Dolomites are also the people who live there with their great attention to hospitality, history, economy linked with pastures and woods and past mining activities. And they are typical products, the result of time-honored traditions and techniques of production processed when the winters were long and valleys remained isolated for months.

And yet, the Dolomites are witnesses of the tragedies of human history: the First World War has left wounds all along the route of the front, from the Stelvio to the Karst trenches, tunnels, walkways, trails, shelters dug into the rock, barracks, all silent witnesses of unimaginable suffering and fierce fighting although had no effect on the development and on the outcome of the war.

Finally they are also a forefront location to provide numerous opportunities for an active holiday in contact with nature. Walking and hiking at every levels, in the valley or at high altitude lead to the discovery of breathtaking views , pastures where cows make their own genuine milk and aromatic with fresh grass and flowers of mountain huts and ramparts of ancient economy. An irresistible invitation to get in the way, wandering aimlessly in the enchanted woods or go to discover stunning viewpoints, where suddenly stand out, right in front, the silhouettes of the towering walls, icy and inaccessible .

In the summer of 2009, UNESCO included the Dolomites in the list of the most beautiful landscapes in the world .
